Origin & meaning
Crafted in 19th-century China, this sophisticated deer (lu) is full of symbolism: a ruyi sceptre in its mouth ("as desired"), peaches on its back (immortality) and the deer itself (prosperity and career happiness). It combines practical function with rich Chinese iconography. Originating from a Swiss private collection and acquired through Oriental Art Auctions.

Condition: Good condition, with slight wear to the gilding and subtle patina befitting its age and use.
