Beautiful Chinese blue and white plate from the Yongzheng period (18th century), with a graceful depiction from the beloved novel "Romance of the Western Chamber".

The decoration shows elegant figures in a garden pavilion, surrounded by floral motifs along the rim. This literary-inspired theme is among the most prized decorations in Chinese export porcelain and was massively admired by European collectors in the 18th century.

Origin & meaning
Originating from a Groningen manor farm, where Chinese porcelain was actively collected through the VOC in the 18th and 19th centuries. Purchased from Veilinghuis Klinkhamer in Groningen. This provenance highlights the historical value and cultural importance of this export porcelain.
