Beautiful Chinese blue and white plate from the Yongzheng period (18th century), with a sophisticated performance from the beloved novel "Romance of the Western Chamber".
The scene shows figures in a garden pavilion, framed by ornate floral motifs along the rim. The theme is among the most iconic decorations in Chinese porcelain and brings to life a literary tale on fine porcelain that found its way to Europe via the Dutch East India Company.
