The scene shows figures in a garden pavilion, framed by ornate floral motifs along the rim. This literary-inspired setting is among the most iconic themes in Chinese porcelain and captures the imagination of collectors worldwide.
Origin & meaning
Originating from a Groningen manor farm, where Chinese porcelain was actively collected through the VOC in the 18th and 19th centuries. Purchased from Klinkhamer Auction House in Groningen. This plate provides tangible evidence of the cultural exchange between China and Europe and is a valuable addition to any collection of export porcelain.
