Dayak amulet from Borneo (Indonesia), representing a human figure with the arms calmly along the body. An understated protective object measuring 9.3 cm high.
Origin & meaning
The posture with the arms along the body symbolises balance, tranquillity and stability. This type of amulet was valued for its subdued energy, in contrast to more expressive postures. Originating from the Dayak and purchased from De Zwaan auction house.
Dimensions & condition
Height 9.3 cm (without plinth). Width 2 cm, depth 2 cm. Good condition with dark patina and signs of use befitting its age.
