Small but powerful Dayak amulet from Borneo (Indonesia), a figure 8.6 cm tall with its arms tight around the body.
Origin & meaning
These compact amulets were often worn in person, close to the body. The pose with the arms around the body symbolises protection and inner strength. Originating from the Dayak and purchased from De Zwaan auction house.
Dimensions & condition
Height 8.6 cm (without plinth). Width 2 cm, depth 1.3 cm. Good condition with dark patina and appropriate signs of use.
