Comprehensive catalogue of the collection of Chinese and Japanese ceramics from the collection of the Jan Menze van Diepen Foundation, compiled by Christiaan J.A. Jörg and produced entirely bilingually in Dutch and English.

Selection of Oriental Ceramics from the Collection of the Jan Menze van Diepen Foundation presents a selection of 145 objects from the foundation's extensive ceramics collection. The described pieces span a long period, from the 15th to the 20th century, with special attention to Chinese and Japanese porcelain and ceramics manufactured for export.

Christiaan J.A. Jörg, a specialist in the field of Chinese and Japanese export porcelain and the historical trade between Asia and Europe, places the objects in their art-historical and trade context. The individual catalogue descriptions provide information on provenance, dating, shape, decoration and use, amongst other things.

Various important groups within Asian ceramics are featured, including Chinese porcelain from different dynastic periods and Japanese export porcelain. The richly illustrated catalogue makes it possible to compare forms, decorations and production periods with one another, making it particularly useful for identifying and dating Chinese and Japanese ceramics.

The book forms the second part dedicated to the collection of the Jan Menze van Diepen Foundation, located at the Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren. The foundation manages an extensive collection of Asian ceramics that was built up by Jan Menze van Diepen over many years.

With its combination of detailed item descriptions, colour photography, and parallel Dutch and English texts, this catalogue is a valuable reference work for collectors and enthusiasts of Chinese and Japanese porcelain and ceramics. ISBN 9789080579323.
