Origin & meaning
Originating from northern Ghana, where the Koma Bulsa are known for their terracotta figures and heads that were used in ancestor worship and healing rituals. Each sculpture is unique and hand-formed; no two pieces are identical. This specimen comes from the collection of the Amsterdam architect Ben Spangberg (1929-2024), A collector with a keen eye for quality and authenticity. Acquired via auction house De Zwaan (Amsterdam).

Good condition with traces of age and use; minor natural erosion to edges, befitting its age and ritual origin. Presented on metal stand.
