Description
A refined Vietnamese lidded box from the 15th or 16th century, beautifully decorated with a floral pattern in compartmentalisation. The decoration in soft blue-grey tones is typical of the late Lê dynasty and shows the influence of Chinese blue-and-white techniques in a typical Vietnamese idiom. Measuring 7.5 cm in diameter and 5 cm high, this compact box is ideal for collectors of Southeast Asian porcelain or early export ceramics. In excellent condition, with beautifully preserved glaze and subtle signs of use that testify to centuries of history.
