Extensive and richly illustrated auction catalogue from Woolley & Wallis for the auction Asian Art I, held on 17 November 2015 in Salisbury.

The catalogue presents a wide selection of Asian art, with a significant emphasis on Chinese art from various periods and collecting areas. Covered are, among other things, porcelain and ceramics, jade, sculptures and various other works of art.

The individual lots have been extensively photographed in colour and provided with English-language catalogue descriptions. Attention is also paid to such details as material, form, decoration, dating and marks. Where available, provenance, previous collections and supplementary background information are also mentioned.

Of particular interest is the wide selection of Chinese jade, alongside the porcelain and sculptures. The numerous illustrations make it possible to compare forms, materials, decorations and stylistic features with one another and make the catalogue useful as a visual reference work for Chinese and Asian art.

With a thickness of approximately 1 cm, the catalogue contains a wealth of reference material and also forms interesting documentation of the supply on the British Asian art market in 2015.
