Authentic Baule colon statue of a nurse from Ivory Coast, with obvious signs of use and visible damage.
This wooden statue shows a nurse in white dress with green red medical symbol, colonial helmet and doctor's case. The paint shows clear signs of wear, the helmet has damage and part of the case is missing. It is precisely these imperfections that give the object character and underline its age and authenticity.
Origin & meaning
Baule colon sculptures are a popular art form from Côte d'Ivoire. They often depict European trades and figures from colonial times, but with an African interpretation. This type of sculpture reflects the creative way Baule artists mixed cultural influences with their own traditions.

Condition with obvious signs of use. Damage to the paint, damage to the helmet and a missing part of the case (see photos).
