Impressive Hopi Deer kachina with symbolic deer antlers and colourful painting. This 36 cm tall statue depicts the Deer (stag) katsina, an important figure in Hopi ceremonies.

Origin & meaning:
The Deer kachina symbolises the connection between man, nature and wild life. During dances, it brings prayers for abundance of wildlife and harmony in the community. Features include the small feathers on top of the mask, symbolising a deer's antlers, the two-coloured face painting and the colourful kilt with geometric patterns. The piece comes from Hopi tradition and was acquired at Swan Auction House in 2024.
