Origin & meaning
This catapult comes from Burkina Faso and was manufactured by the Lobi. Catapults were often used not only as hunting weapons, but also as expressions of creativity and cultural identity. This specimen, with human stature, probably refers to protection and fertility, and emphasises the role of ancestors within the community. Provenance: private collection Castricum.
Dimensions & condition
Height 20 cm, width 12 cm, depth 3 cm. The catapult is in good condition with traces of age and use, adding to its authenticity and appearance.
