Unique Roman bronze horse from around 200 AD, with refined details in miniature format.

This authentic bronze votive figurine of a horse has a height of 5.5 cm (without base) and exudes the strength and elegance that the horse symbolised in Roman culture. The object has been carefully hand-cast and preserved with a rich patina, highlighting its authenticity and age.

Origin & meaning
This figurine is from a pre-1990 German private collection and was acquired through Oriental Art Auctions. Horses played an important role in Roman society - from cavalry to ceremonial processions - and bronze votive figurines like this specimen were often dedicated to the gods or used as protective talismans. The compact size indicates a personal devotion, perhaps placed in a home altar or worn as an amulet.
