Description
A characterful green Jasper sphere with brilliant pyrite inclusions - this 862-gram Wunderkammer mineral displays a beautiful play of moss-green hues, breccia patterns and metallic pyrite flakes. A sphere with powerful appearance and unique texture.
The natural pyrite fragments give a subtle gold-metallic sheen, while the green jasper zones range from pale green to deep moss colours. The breccia structures, where broken stone sections have been rejoined, create a vibrant and geologically fascinating surface. The condition is excellent, with only natural inclusions typical of this rock.
Origin & meaning
Bought at De Zwaan auction house, from Lot 460 of the Christie's South Kensington auction Style & Spirit (25 September 2007). Jasper has been valued as a protection and strength stone since ancient times, and pyrite symbolises stability and vitality. A perfect combination for a Wunderkammer collection.
