The sphere displays beautifully layered green patterns, interspersed with dark, round circles characteristic of this rare type of volcanic rock from Madagascar. The glossiness and structure alternate pleasingly, giving the sphere a lively, almost mystical character. The condition is excellent with only natural mineral structures.

Purchased at Veilinggebouw De Zwaan and from Lot 460 of the Christie's South Kensington auction Style & Spirit (25 September 2007).
