Description
A spectacular Ocean Jasper sphere with unique orbicular patterns and glittering druzy crystals - this is a Wunderkammer mineral that immediately grabs attention. The combination of green rosettes, white floral textures and deep quartz bands gives this sphere an exceptional aesthetic.
The sphere displays multiple openings with fine druzy quartz, a rare feature that collectors particularly appreciate. The alternation of dark green areas, cream-coloured patterns and drawn lines creates a rich visual depth. Condition: excellent, with only natural porosity befitting Ocean Jasper.
Origin & meaning
Bought at De Zwaan auction house, from Lot 460 of the Christie's South Kensington auction Style & Spirit (25 September 2007). Ocean Jasper from Madagascar is known for its unusual orbicular structures and was only rediscovered from 1999 onwards, making pieces of this quality increasingly scarce.
