Description

Rare and magnificent pair of Nymphenburg cockatoo figurines from the 19th century - colourful, true-to-nature and museum-quality.

Origin & meaning
These cockatoos are manufactured by the famous Koninkliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Nymphenburg in Munich. Since the 18th century, Nymphenburg has been known for its high-quality animal figures, which are both true to nature and artistically refined. This mirrored pair shows two lively cockatoos with richly painted crests in green, blue, red and grey, seated on a tree stump with twigs and foliage. Both figurines bear the blind mark of Nymphenburg (shield) and are numbered 413 and 413A at the bottom. As a lover of European porcelain, you immediately recognise the refined modelling and rarity of a complete pair in such excellent condition.
