A refined set of six Chinese porcelain plates from the 19th century, executed in Kangxi style.

The plates are decorated blue and white with the beloved Crab and Fish decorCentrally, a crab, surrounded by four fish, themselves encircled by a floral border with a wave pattern. The decoration is executed with vigour and detail, typical of this style. The underside is marked with a blue-painted floral mark (a lotus or artemisia leaf within a double circle), characteristic of 19th-century Chinese porcelain in the Kangxi tradition.

Origin & meaning
This set of plates dates from China, 19th century, and is made in imitation of the famous Kangxi period (1662-1722). The Crab and Fish decor symbolises abundance, prosperity and harmony in Chinese culture.

Condition: Two of the six plates have a small chip on the edge, the other four are in perfect condition.
