Origin & meaning: This monumental statue (63 cm) symbolises care, fertility and family ties. Within the Akan tradition, it functions as a ritual object during ceremonies honouring ancestors and procreation. It consists of three elements - mother, child and stool - and shows authentic signs of use such as an old repair on the side and a missing fingertip, accentuating its age and origin.
