Origin & meaning: Biiga dolls were cherished and cared for by Mossi girls as symbolic children to practise motherhood. They wear scar patterns symbolising rites of passage and beauty, and this version carries a beaded necklace-a ritual attribute representing fertility and nurturing.

Condition: The doll has a nice, polished but warm patina; the skin shows fine scar marks, beads are largely intact, and there are light signs of wear at the corners and edges with small surface cracks here and there that come with age.
