Description
Rare Amsterdams Bont bowl from China, 18th century, with parrots, butterflies and a charming rabbit motif.
This colourful bowl is among the finest examples of so-called Amsterdams Bont: Chinese porcelain enriched in the Netherlands with vibrant overglaze enamel. A striking feature is the rare rabbit among the floral motifs, alongside birds and butterflies. This makes the bowl particularly attractive to collectors looking for unique variants within this decorative genre.
Origin & meaning. Amsterdams Bont was loved by the European elite in the 18th century, who appreciated the combination of Asian craftsmanship and Dutch painting. The decoration with animals and flowers reflects the playful, exotic taste of the time. This bowl comes from auction house Korst van der Hoeff and is notable for its excellent condition and the presence of the rabbit motif.
Dimensions. Diameter 15 cm, height 7 cm. Condition: excellent, no restorations or baking flaws.
