Description

Powerful Mambila Tadep image with an impressive red pigmented face and expressive decoration with blue and white dots on the body - a rare combination.

This Tadep ancestor figure of the Mambila (Cameroon/Nigeria border region) shows a monumental figure with geometrically carved facial features and powerful, abstract forms. The face is completely red pigmented, while it body richly decorated with blue and white dots. This colour contrast and the dot patterns enhance the ritual look and make this sculpture a special collector's item. Tadep figures served within the Mambila community for protection, healing and as a connecting link to ancestors.
