Description
Hopi Hemis kachina (variant) with handprints and original feather. This statue exudes power and tradition, with red disc ears, a cylindrical head and black handprints on the cheeks. The colourful kilt with zigzag and cloud motifs and the feather on top add to its vibrancy.

The Hemis kachina is among the most important figures in the Niman (Home Going) ceremony. Variants like this one, with cylindrical helmet and handprints, represent a specific ceremonial appearance. The handprints symbolise spiritual protection.
