Imposing 45 cm tall Hopi Longhair kachina, with striped beard and an elegant feather as a headdress. A powerful piece that grabs immediate attention.
Origin & meaning: The Longhair (Angak'china) kachina is an important spiritual figure within the Hopi culture in Arizona, often associated with rain, fertility and blessings. The beard and paint stripes emphasise its ritual significance. This specimen is from the collection of Amsterdam architect Ben Spangberg (1929-2024), collected between 1960 and 1980.
Size & condition: Height 45 cm (including spring), width 19 cm, depth 5.5 cm. Condition appropriate for age and ritual use. Striking detail: the striped beard gives this statue extra character.
