Origin & meaning:
This kachina is a traditional Hopi statue, crafted in Zuni style. The large, jagged wings and subdued pose are characteristic of this style, which was often used to teach children the stories and figures of the kachinas. The weathered paint and wear show its age and use, making this a beautiful collector's piece with lots of character. This kachina cannot stand on its own and is probably meant to be placed in a ritual or educational context.
